Every company is constantly searching for new ways to increase the productivity, security, and profitability of its operations. Cloud computing technology addresses this challenge and offers numerous possibilities, regardless of the size of the business.

A study by Gartner shows that by 2020, companies that don't use cloud computing will be as rare as those that don't use the internet today. This is because most technological innovations are centered on the cloud, and this trend is expected to grow exponentially.

Therefore, we know that cloud computing will bring about significant changes in the very near future. But why should a company prioritize migrating to the cloud?

Affordable cost

The main reason is cost. Hiring a cloud service is much cheaper than setting up and, especially, maintaining a data center, since the structure would involve expenses for electricity, specialized labor focused solely on system maintenance, in addition to network costs. Meanwhile, by adopting cloud computing, this entire equation is solved in a monthly fee.

ROI

Besides the lower cost, another major advantage of cloud computing is the Return on Investment, meaning it's possible to calculate how long it will take for the company to recoup its investment.

Nucleus Research released a calculation of the ROI obtained from adopting cloud-based Enterprise Management Systems, and the value ranged from 73% to 589%, with a payback time between 2 and 23 months.

Student Exchange

Cloud computing also enables remote work, allowing managers and employees to access any data, anytime, anywhere, according to their access levels.

In other words, cloud computing allows for much faster and more agile service delivery than traditional computing is capable of. Furthermore, it enables business management and decision-making to take place from wherever the manager is located.

Scalability

Scalability in cloud computing allows for the expansion of technological resources according to the company's needs, enabling it to keep pace with business growth over time or meet a temporary need for increased resources to perform a specific action in a short period. It provides the necessary resources very quickly, without requiring large investments in software, equipment, and personnel.

Among the advantages of scalability are: cost reduction; elasticity, making it possible to increase or decrease computing resources according to the company's needs; and effective use of available IT resources.

Productivity

Due to the high level of collaboration that cloud computing provides to companies, productivity only increases with its adoption. For example, a file can be viewed and edited by several people in the same organization at the same time, without the need to save a file, send it by email, wait for another colleague to edit it before being able to return to work.

Furthermore, we have another extremely important factor: backups. While traditional backups take hours, this process happens automatically in the cloud system.

Safety

The cloud provider is responsible for the security of the data center where your company's information is stored. This means that all data is located in a highly secure environment, protecting your employees and your business as a whole.

And with automatic backups, if any error occurs, all company data will be available on another server just a few clicks away.
